ETCHINGS-INTAGLIO DIRECTORY
Many years ago, about 1960, when I was a student registered in the Institute of
Technology at the University of Minnesota, my girl-friend, Lois Mirviss and I
signed up for a printmaking class with Professor Malcom Meyers.  I had no
idea what printmaking was about, but was attracted to taking a class with Lois.
As it turned out, I got really involved in the physicality, chemistry and creativity
of  making art on metal and wooden plates, and then printing small editions.
Printmaking was far from my first connection to the joy and pleasure of making
art, but it was the beginning of my connection to taking classes as an art
student.  My life as a university student in the school of engineering was
stressful and difficult, and perhaps some of that feeling of aloneness and
suffering is expressed in these and other early artworks.
