TRANSPARENT WATERCOLOR DIRECTORY
Dimensions of Consciousness.  Watercolor. 1987.  Oakland California.
This water color expresses the relationship between the self, and the environment
as a process of interchange.  Outside and inside are reflections of one another as
energy moves back and forth across the permeable boundary of the sense organs
that translate perceptions that go in, thoughts, and behavior that goes out.  The
white frame line represents that sensual demarcation where outside energy
transforms into inside experience.. For instance, the light bouncing off objects is
transformed by the eye and brain into the perception of color.
BACKGROUND:

Over the years I have used watercolors to make hundreds of
artworks.  My use of this medium goes way back to sixth grade
when I had my first one-man exhibit.  I didn't have any white paint,
so I mixed toothpaste into the colors and the show was called
"Toothpaste Paintings."
This selection of five pieces all express  a liquid organic feeling that
arises from my light-sound days at the Center of Consciousness in
Minneapolis in the late 60's.  I suppose they can be grouped as
"Organic Abstraction" to refer to the life of cells and living tissue.
