| Here is an example of my most recent art. It is mixed media, and I'll tell you why. The art work starts out with a black line drawing done in real space at 8 1/2 x 11 inches. This line-art is then scanned into my computer and brought into my Jasc Paintshop Studio 8 editing program. Here, in virtual space, I edit the line drawing to eliminate small mistakes. Then I make a copy of the line drawing and re-title it Art-Color with the date. This is where I add colors, change colors and re-arrange colors. I also add lines, change shapes and add transparency and shadows. Eventually, it all comes together, but to sign it, I transfer the art to a different program. I do one more thing that you may find interesting.. I'm left- handed, so my lines and composition extend from the left. When the picture is complete, in a way, it is a left-handed picture. I've had the suspicion that right-handed people might find my art uncomfortable because it is left-handed. This is just theory, and I'm not sure if it is a fact, but the computer software makes it possible to mirror-image, or reverse the picture and make it into a right-handed picture. This particular picture has not be reversed, so it is still left-handed, but others I have done lately have been reversed. Perhaps you can guess which ones have been reversed. |
